This spring, Charleston, SC, is set to celebrate its history, architecture, gardens, and antiques during the 69th annual Festival of Houses and Gardens (March 16–April 24). The 13th annual Charleston Antiques Show (March 18–20), which brings antique-lovers from all over to Charleston, kicks off the celebrated spring program.
During the festival, attendees may view 130 historic private houses, gardens, and notable properties. The annual antiques show features period furnishings, vintage jewelry, fine art, and silver—all from the late 17th to the early 20th centuries.
Afternoon and evening self-guided walking tours are the hallmark of this year’s festival, which will also offer guests more than a month of special events, luncheon lectures, tastings, and concerts.
Of particular interest are the Glorious Gardens tours. Each of these five self-guided walking tours in the Old & Historic District are arranged so guests may stroll leisurely through eight to ten private gardens. Guides are stationed at each location to provide information about garden design, plant material, and history. The Glorious Gardens events take place on consecutive Thursdays: March 24 and 31 and April 7, 14, and 21, all from 2 to 5 p.m.
The Charleston Antiques Show will offer daily admission, as well as several weekend packages for those who wish to enjoy the best of both festivals. The Collectors Circle package provides exclusive access to all Charleston has to offer, including parties in grand, private, historic houses; early admission to the opening night Preview Party; Sunday brunch; and more.
