Collectibles and Camaraderie Lead to a Texas Renovation

Abbe found spots for the eclectic stash of prints and paintings from Courtney’s travels, reframing them as needed. “If you love something, you figure out how to make it work,” Abbe says. In that same vein, Asian prints in the master bedroom are combined with handed-down lamps bearing slightly iridescent shades energized by a richly textured green velvet headboard, custom pillows and window treatments. A duo of red nightstands framing the bed lends an updated air.

In the master bath, a rust shower curtain sets off a tile display that includes diamond and regular subway tiles separated by an inlay band. “I tried to get her on the wallpaper train, but she wasn’t having it. I thought it would be really cool to tile the whole room,” explains Abbe, who worked with Courtney to update nearly every corner of the house. The designer continues doggy rendezvous with the homeowner and her new Brittany spaniel, Zach (Bowie passed away last year). “Now, it’s Zach and Caddo.”
