Holiday Iced Tea
Makes about 2 1/2 quarts

  1. 3 quarts water
  2. 3 cinnamon sticks
  3. 1 tablespoon whole allspice
  4. 1 tablespoon whole cardamom pods
  5. 1 lemon, sliced
  6. 4 family-size tea bags
  7. 1 1/2 cups sugar
  8. 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  9. Garnish: cinnamon sticks, lemon slices
  1. In a large saucepan, combine water, cinnamon sticks, allspice, cardamom, and lemon. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium, and cook for 10 minutes. Remove from heat, and add tea bags. Cover, and steep for 5 minutes. Strain tea into a large pitcher. Add sugar and lemon juice, stirring until sugar dissolves. Serve over ice. Garnish with cinnamon sticks and lemon slices, if desired.
