Maple-Pecan Baked Pears

A decadent maple sauce and pecan halves jazz up baked pears for a treat that’s ideal for Christmastime meals.

Maple-Pecan Baked Pears
 
MAKES 6 HALVES
Ingredients
  • ⅓ cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh orange juice
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon cardamom
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 3 red Anjou pears, sliced in half lengthwise and cored
  • ⅓ cup pecan halves
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375°. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine maple syrup, brown sugar, orange juice, cornstarch, cardamom, and red pepper. Toss pears in syrup mixture and let stand for 15 minutes.
  3. Arrange pears, cut side down, onto prepared baking sheet. Pour syrup mixture over pears. Bake until pears are tender and sauce is thickened and bubbling, about 25 minutes. Add pecans and bake 5 minutes more. Let cool slightly. Serve warm.
