Ingredients
  1. 10 cups sliced green Anjou pears (about 6 pears)
  2. 1⁄4 cup fresh orange juice
  3. 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  4. 1⁄2 cup sugar
  5. 1⁄4 cup cornstarch
  6. 1 tablespoon orange zest
  7. 11⁄2 teaspoons ground ginger
  8. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  9. 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
  10. Streusel Topping (recipe follows)
  11. Vanilla ice cream
  12. Garnish: chopped pecans
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Lightly grease a 3-quart casserole dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine pears and orange juice.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine sugars, cornstarch, zest, ginger, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Combine sugar mixture and pear mixture; toss gently to coat. Evenly layer pear mixture in prepared casserole dish. Top with Streusel Topping. Bake until lightly browned, about 1 hour. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving. Serve with vanilla ice cream. Garnish with chopped pecans, if desired.

  2. 1 cup all-purpose flour
  3. 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  4. 1⁄2 cup butter
Instructions
  1. In a medium bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, and oats. Using a pastry blender or fork, cut in butter until crumbly.
