Overflowing with spring’s verdant bounty, this miniature herb garden is a cinch to tote between porch and kitchen.

Herb Garden How-To

A vintage enamelware bowl is the perfect place to create a lovely little herb garden. Add to the charm with custom labels that mark the location of each fragrant and delectable plant. Simply use rubber stamps to impress plant names into strips of bakeable clay.

It’s hard to go wrong with a classic trio of sage, basil, and rosemary, but you can mix and match almost any herbs that suit your fancy. Just be sure they have similar moisture needs—and don’t forget a drainage hole in the bottom of the container. Contact your local extension office for detailed tips about herbs that grow well together.
