Spicy Meatballs
Makes 4 dozen

  1. 2 pounds ground chuck
  2. 2 pounds spicy Italian sausage,
  3. casings removed
  4. 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  5. 1 large yellow onion, chopped
  6. 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  7. 1 cup panko (Japanese bread crumbs)
  8. 2 teaspoons salt
  9. 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  10. 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  11. Barbecue Sauce (recipe follows)
  1. In a large bowl, combine ground chuck, sausage, eggs, onion, garlic, panko, salt, garlic powder, and pepper. Using hands, mix and shape meat mixture into 2-inch balls. Place meatballs in a slow cooker. Pour Barbecue Sauce over meatballs. Cover, and cook on High for 4 hours.

Barbecue Sauce
Makes about 4 cups

  1. 2 cups water
  2. 2 cups ketchup
  3. 1 1/4 cups distilled white vinegar
  4. 6 tablespoons firmly packed
  5. dark brown sugar
  6. 2 tablespoons paprika
  7. 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  8. 1 teaspoon salt
  9. 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  10. 1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper (optional)
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together water, ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and red pepper (if desired).
