Spicy Meatballs

Makes 4 dozen
Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground chuck
- 2 pounds spicy Italian sausage,
- casings removed
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 large yellow onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 cup panko (Japanese bread crumbs)
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- Barbecue Sauce (recipe follows)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground chuck, sausage, eggs, onion, garlic, panko, salt, garlic powder, and pepper. Using hands, mix and shape meat mixture into 2-inch balls. Place meatballs in a slow cooker. Pour Barbecue Sauce over meatballs. Cover, and cook on High for 4 hours.

Barbecue Sauce

Makes about 4 cups
Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups ketchup
- 1 1/4 cups distilled white vinegar
- 6 tablespoons firmly packed
- dark brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together water, ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and red pepper (if desired).
