Tiffany Hill in North Carolina

Original of Panorama

This western North Carolina bed-and-breakfast beckons folks to come as guests, leave as friends, and return time and time again.

Much like the cooing strains of the theme song “Moon River,” it’s hard to forget a visit to Tiffany’s. The Bed & Breakfast on Tiffany Hill, that is.

Cradled in the cozy community of Mills River, North Carolina, just minutes from Asheville and Brevard, this five-suite getaway is perfect for summer. And while some innkeepers may credit their milestones to a stunning property and endless hours of devotion, Selena Einwechter is quick to pass off the praise.

Tiffany Hill Owner - May June 12 Southern Lady

“There is no doubt in my mind that I’m doing exactly what I was put on this earth to do,” says Selena, a driven entrepreneur who fulfilled a 25-year dream when she built Tiffany Hill. “I also know I couldn’t have done it without the precious prayers, financial support, and volunteer hours of dear friends and family. Once I laid down my will and let God take over, I was in awe of what He had planned for this place.”

And as the double doors open, awe is the feeling guests get when they cross the home’s threshold. “Folks come from across the country to find relief here,” says Selena, who is a true embodiment of a servant spirit. “Oftentimes they arrive weary from work and with strained relationships. It’s incredible to watch these same people ‘bloom in their room’ as they discover much-needed rest and relaxation.”

Perfectly appointed with sumptuous linens, sophisticated art, indulgent tubs, and modern amenities, each of the suites—named Beaufort, Seaside, Natch-ez, Charlottesville, and Madison after Selena’s favorite Southern towns—reflects the theme of “casual elegance filled with Southern hospitality.”

In the morning, guests gather around the dining room table to enjoy a three-course Breakfast at Tiffany’s—including, yes, a decadent dessert. “Life is a celebration, and we honor that on Tiffany Hill,” promises Selena, who dons a perfect pair of pearls as she serves her new friends.

After breakfast, short drives lead to fabulous shopping, the Biltmore Estate, and outdoor recreation in the “Land of the Waterfalls” (the county has 250 majestic cascades), and yet many guests prefer to linger away their day at Tiffany Hill. Here, you can cozy up with a book in the sunlit botanical sitting room, kick up your feet in the shaded hammock, or take in the pastoral property.

Each season at the bed-and-breakfast offers its own special charm, but the gardens truly showcase their splendor this time of year. Be sure to save time to meander through the seven garden vignettes (including a secret garden, a celebration walk, and a bird-watching pavilion), which play host to events throughout the year. Or, better yet, try your hand at the scavenger hunt: a 10-clue adventure highlighting the property’s most scenic spots.

However you choose to spend your time on Tiffany Hill, one thing is sure: It’s certain to change you. “I’ve seen souls restored here,” Selena says as she waves farewell (for now) to a departing crowd, “and there is nothing more rewarding than that.”
